Introduction

FlatPeak Technology Ltd is a UK-HQ B2B software company providing real-time energy tariff data infrastructure. Our platform enables device manufacturers, energy software providers, and flexibility operators to access structured, machine-readable tariff data — enabling devices and systems to shift energy consumption to periods when electricity is cheaper and lower in carbon intensity. This report summarises our approach to corporate social responsibility for the year ending 31 December 2025. As a founder-led software company, our approach is proportionate, operationally embedded, and directly linked to our commercial mission.

Our Mission and Social Purpose

FlatPeak exists to make dynamic energy pricing accessible at scale. The energy transition depends on demand flexibility: shifting consumption away from peak fossil generation toward periods of high renewable output. Our infrastructure directly enables this shift. We consider this our primary contribution to sustainable development — building the data layer that allows energy efficiency and decarbonisation to happen at the device level, automatically, without requiring action from consumers.

Environmental Responsibility

Core Product Impact

Our software platform supports the adoption of time-of-use and dynamic tariffs across multiple markets. By enabling smart devices to respond to real-time tariff signals, FlatPeak contributes to:
  • Reduced peak demand on electricity grids, lowering reliance on dispatchable fossil generation
  • Improved economics for renewable energy by increasing utilisation during high-output periods
  • Enabling OEMs and energy software vendors to build carbon-aware device behaviour at scale

Our Own Operations

As a software business, our direct environmental footprint is limited. We operate without extensive fixed commercial premises, with a distributed team and cloud-hosted infrastructure.
  • Cloud infrastructure hosted on providers with published net-zero or renewable energy commitments
  • No company vehicle fleet; business travel prioritises public transport or commercial aviation where necessary
  • Fully paperless operations

Social Responsibility

Employment and Fair Work

FlatPeak employs and engages contractors under terms consistent with UK employment law and best practice. We are committed to:
  • Fair and transparent remuneration
  • Flexible working arrangements that support work-life balance
  • A working environment free from discrimination, harassment, or exploitation

Data Privacy and Consumer Rights

Our platform handles energy tariff data on behalf of business customers. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and operate in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (of the UK, EU and other similar standards across the world). We apply privacy-by-design principles to our API architecture and do not collect or retain end-consumer personal data beyond what is necessary for service delivery.

Market Participation and Policy Engagement

FlatPeak participates in global energy market governance through active engagement with various authorities and commercial organisations. We contribute technical expertise to policy workstreams concerning energy management, optimisation and metering, consumer energy data rights, and flexible demand infrastructure — areas with direct relevance to the energy transition and consumer benefit.

Governance

Director Accountability

CSR responsibilities are held at the director level. As a founder-led company, the directors are directly involved in all material decisions affecting environmental, social, and ethical conduct. There is no delegation of these responsibilities to a separate function.

Anti-Corruption and Ethical Conduct

FlatPeak operates in accordance with the UK Bribery Act 2010. We maintain a zero-tolerance position on bribery, corruption, and facilitation payments in all business dealings.

Supplier Engagement

We assess prospective suppliers and partners against criteria that include alignment with our business values and sustainability priorities. We communicate expectations regarding ethical conduct, data handling, and responsible business practice as part of supplier onboarding.

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

FlatPeak is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms. As a software business with a lean, directly engaged team, we have low exposure to supply chain risks in this area. We do not use labour-intensive supply chains or operate in high-risk sectors or geographies for forced labour. We conduct basic due diligence on suppliers and contractors to ensure they operate lawfully and ethically. Any confirmed instance of modern slavery in our operations or supply chain would result in immediate termination of that relationship.

Community Engagement and Consumer Education

The directors of FlatPeak actively participate in local energy market governance and public policy processes, including engagement with authorities and other organisations. This participation is directed toward improving consumer outcomes — specifically around better tariff design, and the rights of consumers to benefit from the flexibility their devices and data can provide. Beyond commercial activity, the directors contribute to public understanding of energy digitalisation through published analysis, open technical specifications, and responses to public consultations. This work is conducted in a personal and professional capacity and is oriented toward ensuring that the transition to smart, flexible energy systems serves consumers equitably — not just large market participants. We believe that informed consumers and well-designed market codes are prerequisites for a fair energy transition, and we commit to continuing this engagement as the regulatory landscape evolves.
